Why did Hitler any many other men through history hate the Jews?

In western society, people have tended to see Jews as the enemies of Christianity, which has led to their persecution in many places over the years. The fact that they tended to keep their own customs, practise their own religion, have their own dietary laws etc, tended to make them objects of suspicion.
