I hear rattler snakes coral snakes and scorpions are bad in phoenix. can they get in your apartment?

im moving to the phoenix area next year. i am scared about the stories i hear about the snakes and scorpions. how bad is apartment living with these creatures and what apartments if any are safe? how are the apartments exterminated to be scorpion free, and what can i put down to deter all these critters away especially the snakes
