Could a psychology major be applied to Interpretations/Translations? Any specific college path advice?
I am a Junior in High School. I am almost fluent in Japanese, and I want to pursue Sicilian or Italian next. In order to become an interpreter/translator, I want to pursue a college major or branch that I can find better work in with my aiding qualifications. Though, I cannot decide which college major to pursue (and still have it interest me). I am interested in Cognitive Psychology, but I do not know how a bachelors/masters could be applied to Interpretation/TR work. Could this possibly better qualify me in Health Care Interpretation Work? Or would that degree even matter? Also, does anyone have any idea about what could be the big need, not only in college majors but in languages themselves, in the next few years for interpreters/translators? I'm just curious to know what others have to say, perhaps from people who have experienced the industry. Thanks!
