What happened to the Templar knights and the assassin order?

well, no BS answers, this is a serious question: i know they are both still around, i mean, how could they not be? they both were to powerfull to come crashing down like they did. the Templars were not just an order of knights, they had a complete set of ideals and ways of living and thinking. im not bassing this off the game assassins creed, so shut up. the pope had the Templar knights killed sometime after the crusades, but they had become like a race at the time, and even by exterminating the soldiers and public figures of a race or order, you cant always take out the little people members that no one person knew where templars. and the assassins literally vanished into thin air, or at least the records of them did. not a trace. many would say that they were attacked by the huns or some other group and were killed. this is true they were attacked, but, as with the templars, cant get them all. so, here is my question: has anyone seen head or tail of the assassins or templars in later years? is anyone either of these? if so, tell me about there ideals and just educate me on them. id like to learn from a point of view of the people im educated about.
